Vanakkam and Happy Deepavali to all our Hindus and all Malaysians!
Deepavali, also known as Diwali, is a festival of lights celebrated by those of the Hindu faith. It is one of the most important festivals of the year for the Hindus who celebrate by performing traditional customs at their homes.
The word Diwali comes from the Sanskrit word “Deepavali”, which means “rows of lighted lamps”, and celebrates the victory of truth over falsehood, light over darkness, and good over evil. Households across India celebrate by decorating their space with small oil lamps and other colorful lights.
Deevapali is an official holiday in Malaysia as well as in other Asian countries like India, Singapore, Mauritius, and Myanmar, and in non-Asian countries like Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, Suriname as well as Fiji.
This year, it will be celebrated on October 24. To spread festive cheer, we would like to wish you a happy Diwali and a happy holiday! May the divine light of Diwali bring more warmth, joy, safety, and prosperity to your life.
