Environmentally, garbage is the scariest term and item that is threatening our earth right now. People in Malaysia produce exponentially more garbage every single day. Even people who care about the environment get overwhelmed at the sight of garbage that is disposed and cannot be taken by
municipal trash handlers or compost bins anymore. The fact of the matter is there are not enough recycling companies in the world that can handle the amount of garbage produced every single day by humans. Most of us only know that paper, plastic and perishables are the three big P’s that can be recycled. However, there are some items that can be recycled and you didn’t know about it. Here are some of those items.
Electronic appliances:
Disposing kitchen items in a trash can is a criminal thing to do. These appliances can be recycled for several parts, like glass, metal and small parts like wires and cables. Even car stereos and electrical parts like batteries from a scrap car can be recycled. Some people make a conscious effort by selling old appliances for a cheap price in yard sales or just donating them. There are several ways to contribute to the environment rather than just depending on the neighborhood trash can.
Cardboard cartons:
Most of us discard the cardboard cartons after moving our homes or when we buy large items. There are several nonprofit organizations and other recycling companies that can recycle these boxes and reproduce cartons from them. Even scrap car dealers deal with these cartons and other recyclable materials. Finding a recycling dealer or company is no big deal. You just need to put in the effort to reach out to them. Several of them even offer home pick up for a small amount.
Disks/CD/DVD:
Scratched CDs, DVDs and other forms of storage disks, including MP3 players, can be recycled and made into newer storage disks. You can also convert old CDs as coasters or make interesting show pieces out of them. You can even use a fishing line to make wind chimes out of CDs.
Cars:
Of what good use is an old scrap car in your garage? If your car is not fit to be on the roads anymore, consider selling it off to scrap car dealers. Several of the old car parts can be recycled and made into usable products. The car doors, bonnet, boot, upholstery, mirrors, windshield, engine, battery and many other parts of the car can be recycled individually. The car is taken apart piece by piece and then recycled.
Motor oil:
If your scrap car has old motor oil, give it to a recycling unit that can make use of this oil without polluting the environment. Used oil serves several purposes like they are converted into grease and other form of lubricants that are used in the iron ore industry.
Conclusion
The purpose of recycling should be to save the environment from pollution and further damage. While there are several thousands of products that can be recycled, there a few which are of no use in the recycling industry. Avoid buying such products and if you can send it back to the manufacturer then ask them to make products that close the waste loop.
