There are many items in our external environment that can be recycled and made into useful products which are inturn useful very much in our daily life. These recycled materials are subsequently used as other products or as components of many useful products. Rather than dumping them in landfills or incinerating, it is advisable to recycle old products into new ones which save precious energy and cost.
Aerosols: Aerosols have to be emptied before getting recycled and it can be given easily for collection.
Aluminium substances: Aluminium foil cannot be recycled, but it can be reused. It can be folded and kept till there is a need to reuse the foil. But if it cannot be recycled then it can be discarded into non-recyclable rubbish.
Batteries: House hold batteries which are made of lead or dry cells can be recycled and this can be done with designated shops where they collect them.
Books: Books are also a form of items which can be used as recycled materials but it is better off to give them for a donation.
Bottles and jars: Bottles and jars can be easily made into recycled materials since they are made of glass. The recycled materials are then used in the industry which saves more glass form being made at expensive rates.
Cardboard: First staples have to be removed from boxes or packaging now the cardboard can be flatly squashed and these are also a form of recycled materials.
Clothes: Clothes can be converted into cleaning cloths and useful recycled materials in craft works.
Computers: For processing electrical goods into useful recycled materials, there are some specialized companies in Malaysia which can take them.
Cans and drink bottles are also recycled by many companies and metal is extracted from them.
Electrical goods: Refrigerators, washing machines, cookers and even computer monitors are recycled many companies for use as recycled materials.
Furniture: It is easy to make furniture undergo some modifications and this can be used as recycled furniture.
Magazines: Magazines are crushed into fine paper bits for recycling.
Metal tins and cans are also processed for use as recycled materials. Mobile phones and newspapers are some of the other recycle materials. Different forms of paper can be recycled such as Junk mail, envelopes, letters, office paper, birthday cards etc. Carpets, CDs, videos and DVDs are also recycled into useful recycled materials. Cereal boxes that are made of cardboard needs to be first flattened to be made into useful recycled materials.
Children’s toys cannot be made into recycled materials and it can be better donated. Plastic bottles are also used as recycled materials. They are increasingly processed these days to see that they don’t pollute the environment and this is very important from the environment point of view. Print cartridges are also an important form of recycled materials. Recycled materials help environment and they form an efficient strategy for waste management in urban areas where there is no much space left for dumping them safely. Hence they play an important role in waste management in countries like Malaysia.
